The Kyoto Traditional Crafts Research Residency 2026 is an international, interdisciplinary residency program that connects Kyoto’s historic craft traditions with the global creative community. Hosted by in Residence Kyoto in collaboration with TCI Laboratory Co., Ltd., KONOE AIR 7 RESIDENCE, and Atelier hifumi / COSMIC WHALE LLC, the residency takes place in the Ninose district of northern Kyoto and offers participants a month‑long stay (early January – mid‑February 2027). Residents live at KONOE AIR 7 RESIDENCE, work in a shared studio (The SITE), and conduct field research throughout the Ninose area, engaging directly with local artisans, workshops, and communities. The program supports a wide range of practices—including visual arts, film, music, food culture, landscape, curatorial work, and writing—encouraging participants to develop research‑based projects, documentation, prototypes, performances, or publications.
