The University of Atypical for Arts and Disability, in partnership with the Department for Communities, invites d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists to apply for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) 2026 Open Call. Three artists will be selected to create and deliver a 15‑minute presentation as part of the event programme titled “Fashion, Identity & Inclusion: Celebrating Disabled Creativity”. The event will take place on Thursday 3 December 2026 at the Ulster Museum in Belfast. Selected artists will receive a £300 commission fee for preparation, a £150 panel participation fee, and reimbursement of reasonable travel and agreed access costs. The museum will provide wall space, plinths and projectors for displaying work, and BSL/ISL interpretation will be available. Applicants must self‑declare as d/Deaf, disabled or neurodivergent, be based in Northern Ireland, be aged 18 or over, and may be at any career stage. Submissions are open from 3 September 2026 until 4:00 pm on Tuesday 20 October 2026. Applications can be submitted via a Google Form or by email, accompanied by a biography, project proposal, work examples and CV. The call aims to showcase diverse fashion‑related practices, from design and textile work to performance and digital media, and to promote accessibility in fashion.
