The Vermont Studio Center (VSC) is a renowned artist and writer residency located in Johnson, Vermont, nestled in the Green Mountains along the Gihon River. Each year, VSC hosts a diverse community of over 40 writers and visual artists from around the world for 2‑ to 4‑week residencies. The program offers unrestricted time for creative work, daily opportunities to engage with fellow artists, and a range of community events such as resident presentations, readings, artist talks, open studios, and gallery openings. Residents receive a private studio space, a private room with a bathroom, and all meals on campus. The campus is equipped with a wood and metal shop, printmaking presses, a digital lab, a library, and reliable internet access, providing a full suite of resources for artists working in 2D, 3D, and media disciplines. The residency is open to writers and visual artists worldwide, with no specific eligibility requirements. Each year, 35 % of residents receive full fellowships, and the remaining residents receive partial fellowships through the VSC Fellowship Fund. The application process is conducted online via SlideRoom and requires a $25 USD application fee. The next open call runs from 15 August to 30 September 2026, with a deadline of 30 September 2026.
