The City of Pickering’s public art program has issued a Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a permanent outdoor artwork to be installed in the newly developing Dave Ryan Community Park. Artists or artist teams—including professional artists, graphic designers, architects, landscape designers, and collaborative groups—are invited to submit a single PDF proposal that includes a resume, artist statement, portfolio, and references. The selection process is two‑stage: an initial EOI review followed by a Request for Proposal (RFP) for shortlisted teams. The winning artist or team will receive a total budget of $60,000 CAD (including HST) to cover artist fees, materials, fabrication, installation, insurance, equipment, travel, and community consultation. Shortlisted teams will be compensated $1,500 CAD for their RFP concepts. The project timeline runs from September 2026 to August 2027, with key milestones in January, March, and April 2027. The City will provide accommodation for applicants with disabilities throughout the selection process. The call encourages participation from Indigenous peoples and equity‑deserving communities.
