Residenza artistica presso il BR Whiting Studio

The BR Whiting Studio residency, administered by Creative Australia, provides Australian writers with the opportunity to live and work in a furnished studio apartment in Rome’s Trastevere neighbourhood. Applicants may select a one‑month, three‑month or six‑month residency, receiving a stipend of AUD 6,500, AUD 15,000 or AUD 27,500 respectively. The studio includes a bedroom, kitchen, workroom, library, internet, and basic amenities; residents are responsible for cleaning and personal supplies. The program is open to individual Australian citizens or permanent residents who are practising artists or arts workers working on a literature project. Group applications, organisations, or applicants with overdue grant reports are ineligible. The residency runs on fixed dates in late 2027 and 2028, with travel insurance and a travel grant required from the recipient. Applications close on 15 September 2026 (AEST) and successful candidates are notified in early December 2026. The residency aims to foster international networks, allowing writers to engage with local literary communities, universities and cultural institutions.
