The BBC Writers Open Call invites original scripts for television, film, radio, and stage. The call is open to writers who are at least 18 years old, resident of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Republic of Ireland, and employed as part of BBC Writers or a BBC staff member in a Scripted team or otherwise connected to the scheme. The next submission window runs from 3 November 2026 to 1 December 2026 at 12 noon, with no application fee. Scripts are submitted via the BBC E‑Submissions system and are assessed by BBC Writers readers. Shortlisted writers are offered development opportunities within the BBC, though no monetary prize is awarded. The call is recurring, with a new edition each year, and is hosted by BBC Writers, part of the BBC’s drama and comedy commissioning teams.
