Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

The Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA) presents the SAFTA LGBTQIA+ Fellowship, a short‑term writing residency designed for LGBTQIA+ writers. Fellows receive a week‑long stay at Firefly Farms, a 45‑acre working farm located about 15 miles from downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. The residency provides a private 130 sq ft bedroom, access to a communal kitchen, bathroom, office with computer facilities, and a library of over 2,000 books. Wi‑Fi, central heating and air conditioning are available. Residents are expected to contribute roughly five hours per week of service work on the farm, such as feeding animals and general maintenance. While the fellowship covers housing and workspace, participants are responsible for their own meals and transportation to the farm. The application deadline for the Summer 2027 cycle, which includes this fellowship, is February 1 2027. An application fee of $20 (or $15 for students) applies but is waived for fellowship applicants who need financial aid. The program emphasizes a commitment to anti‑racist and inclusive practices, offering additional support grants for Black and Indigenous writers. The fellowship is part of SAFTA’s recurring residency program, with new cycles each year.
