Association for Art History
Über Diese Gelegenheit
The Association for Art History (AAH) awards an annual Postgraduate Dissertation Prize to support doctoral and early‑career researchers in art history and visual culture. The prize is open to scholars who are within five years of completing their PhD, are currently studying art history in its broadest sense, and hold current membership of the AAH. Applicants must demonstrate how the prize would benefit their research and professional development. The award includes £50 worth of book tokens, a one‑year student membership to the AAH, a complimentary ticket to the Association’s Annual Conference, and publication of a 300‑word abstract of the winning dissertation online and in the AAH e‑newsletter. The deadline for the 2027 prize is Monday 4 January 2027 at 5 pm. Applications are submitted via the downloadable entry form and nomination form, which must be returned to the AAH by email. The prize is awarded by the AAH’s Doctoral and Early‑Career Research Committee. The AAH also offers related bursaries and grants for research, teaching, and professional practice, but the Postgraduate Dissertation Prize is a distinct award focused on supporting early‑career scholarship.
