WIELS calls for applications from Canadian artists (Canadian nationals, or those living and working in Canada) for a 6-month residency, January through June 2027, sponsored by Aureus Ars & Scientia. WIELS is the main centre for contemporary art in Belgium's - and Europe’s - capital city of Brussels. An international laboratory for innovation and creative practice that aims to enrich the debate, open up new perspectives and stimulate the senses through an exhibition programme and interactions with creators and authors from various cultures and geographies. The WIELS Residency Programme intends to contribute to the dynamic exchanges and presence of contemporary visual art in Brussels, while simultaneously creating resonances beyond the city. Quality universities and art schools, an extensive offer in arts and culture activities, an affordable lifestyle and a strategic location which enables easy access to major cities and art institutions in Europe, all make of Brussels a formidable place of residence for artists.

The call is open to artists over 21 years of age, no longer students, legally able to travel and work, with Canadian citizenship or living and working in Canadian territory, having contributed to the Canadian art scene in the last few years.
