Residência Shilp‑Shala
Shilp‑Shala Residency
Sobre Esta Oportunidade
Shilp‑Shala Residency is a newly built, multidisciplinary residency situated in the hills on the outskirts of Mumbai, approximately 100 km from the city centre. The program is designed to provide artists with a professional, supportive environment for creation and exchange across artistic disciplines. Participants receive studio space (about 40 m² per artist), shared accommodation with attached toilets and a common kitchen, and essential utilities such as electricity and Wi‑Fi. The residency also offers wood and metal working tools for artists who need them.
The residency is open to both emerging and established practitioners from India and abroad. Applicants are required to submit a project proposal (maximum three months) and a portfolio of up to five images, all in English. The application process is free of charge, but artists must cover their own travel costs (including visa and health insurance) and a monthly rent: ₹15,000 for Indian artists or $550 per month (or $1,400 for a three‑month stay) for international artists.
Transport from Mumbai International Airport to the residency is provided by the host, ensuring a smooth arrival for participants. The residency operates on a rolling basis, accepting applications year‑round until the program is filled. The Shilp‑Shala Residency aims to foster a vibrant community of artists who can collaborate, learn, and produce work in a tranquil, rural setting.
