The Chicago Cultural Center Dance Studio Residency is a program of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) that supports the research and development of new dance and movement work. Selected artists receive approximately 80 hours of studio space at the Chicago Cultural Center’s Dance Studio, as well as $10,000–$25,000 in funding to cover production costs. The residency requires applicants to be Chicago residents or organizations located in Chicago, have at least two years of public performance experience, be 18 years or older, and not be full‑time undergraduate students. Applicants must also not currently receive a DCASE Individual Artist Program grant, nor have previously received this residency. The program includes public engagement activities, coaching, accessibility services, and co‑promotion. Applications are submitted online via SurveyMonkey, with a deadline of Wednesday, September 3, 2026 at 5 p.m. CT. The residency period runs from November 2025 to June 2026, and the program is offered annually.

Awardees receive up to 80 hours of studio space at the Chicago Cultural Center’s first‑floor Dance Studio, $10,000–$25,000 in funding, two public engagement events, ASL and other accessibility services, photography for at least one event, and coaching for outreach and delivery of engagement activities.

Restrições

Individuals, companies, collectives, and organizations working in dance/movement-based practices may apply. Applicants must have at least a 2‑year history of public performance, be 18+ years old, and reside or be located within Chicago city limits. Full‑time undergraduate students are ineligible. Prior recipients of this residency or those currently in another DCASE or City of Chicago residency are not eligible.
