Instituto Sacatar: Residência para artistas baseados na África (Brasil)
Instituto Sacatar
Sobre Esta Oportunidade

Instituto Sacatar (formerly Sacatar Foundation) announces its 2027 Open Call, offering fully funded artist residencies on the island of Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil. Each residency lasts approximately eight weeks and includes private accommodation with an attached bathroom, three daily meals, an individual studio suited to the artist’s discipline, weekly laundry service, logistical support, and transportation from Salvador airport to the island and back. Artists receive access to a range of studios (visual arts, multimedia, performance, music, writing) and communal spaces such as a library and kitchen. The program does not cover airfare, stipends, or material costs, but a letter of support can be provided for external funding. The call is open to individual artists of any nationality and discipline; former Sacatar Fellows are ineligible, group proposals are not accepted, and applicants must stay for the full session, be vaccinated, and cannot bring family or pets. Applications are submitted online with a USD 25 fee. Deadline: August 28 2026. The residency aims to foster cross‑disciplinary exchange, community engagement, and artistic exploration in a low‑tech, nature‑rich environment.
