Michigan Central Art x Newlab Detroit 2027 – Residência Criativa

The Michigan Central Art x Newlab Detroit Creative Residency program supports artists, designers, and makers developing interdisciplinary work at the intersection of art, technology, and health. For its 2027 edition, four to five fellows will be selected for a 12‑week, research‑based residency (Session One: Feb 8‑Apr 30, 2027; Session Two: May 17‑Aug 6, 2027) in Detroit. Each fellow receives a $30,000 unrestricted award, access to Newlab’s fabrication shops, Michigan Central’s resources, and, for the Health track, partnership with Henry Ford Health. Fellows also benefit from mentorship, project‑aligned research opportunities, public conversation series, and a dedicated desk with storage. Applications are open to individual U.S.‑based artists over 25 who can receive taxable income (SSN, ITIN, or EIN). No groups are accepted. Housing and transit are not provided; fellows must arrange their own accommodation. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST, with an optional virtual Open House on October 8, 2026. Applications are submitted via Submittable.
