SomoS Arts Berlin offers a range of Artist-in-Residence (AIR) programmes that are open year‑round and reviewed on a rolling basis. The flagship Physical Artist Residency provides a private live‑work studio, access to a 100 m² communal area, exhibition space, curatorial support, and participation in SomoS’s active exhibition and event programme. Residencies typically last a minimum of three months and can extend up to twelve months, depending on the project. Fees range from €1 250 to €1 550 per month for the studio, covering accommodation, workspace, and programme support. An Embedded Residency (non‑residential) is available for €600 per month, and a Virtual Residency for €450 per month. Applicants may be private individuals or institutions, and the call welcomes artists, curators and cultural researchers from any country. No separate application fee is required; participants are responsible for funding the residency fees, though SomoS can provide a letter of intent to support external grant applications. Housing is provided in the studio for the physical residency, while travel support is not explicitly offered. Applications are accepted continuously, with decisions communicated individually.

The residency program includes regular curatorial staff sessions, curatorial sessions with visiting art professionals, group project feedback sessions, studio tours, AIR exchange sessions, introductions to local gallerists, curators, and artists in their environment, and joint explorations of Berlin’s cultural landscape.

Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed on a rolling basis. Residencies typically span 3 months, but can last up to 12 months depending on the proposed project. We welcome applications from both private individuals and institutions.
