A Morte como Cultura: Residência Artística Virtual

The Kolaj Institute invites collage artists to a four‑week virtual residency titled “Death as Culture” running from 29 November to 20 December 2026. Participants will investigate how death is expressed in folklore, rituals, and artistic practice across cultures, producing collaborative collage works and receiving curatorial feedback. The program includes weekly live sessions, a WhatsApp group for community interaction, and culminates in presentations. Artists will have the opportunity for their work to be shown in a January 2027 exhibition at the Kolaj Institute Gallery in New Orleans and an October 2027 exhibition at the New Orleans Healing Center, as well as consideration for publication in the Folklore Collage Society journal. The residency costs $600 USD per artist, but the Institute offers grant assistance for those in need. Open to artists of any nationality, over 21 years old, at any career stage. Applications require a brief bio, artist statement, images of work, and a statement of expectations. The final deadline is 8 November 2026.
