The Chicago Cultural Center Dance Studio Residency, administered by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), provides a five‑month studio residency for Chicago‑based dance and movement artists. Selected awardees receive approximately 80 hours of studio space between March 2027 and September 2027, as well as a cash grant ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 to support research, rehearsal costs, and artist fees. The program also offers coaching, a technician for public engagement events, ASL and other accessibility services, photography for one event, and co‑promotion through DCASE channels. Applicants must have at least two years of public performance experience, reside within Chicago city limits, and be at least 18 years old (individuals cannot be full‑time undergraduate students). Both individuals and Chicago‑based organizations with budgets under $500,000 may apply, but prior recipients and those currently holding other DCASE residencies are ineligible. Applications are submitted via Microsoft Forms and must include a work sample, budget plan, and proof of Chicago residency. The deadline for submissions is Monday, 26 October 2026 at 5 p.m. CT, with notifications sent in December 2026. The residency does not provide technical staff, dedicated parking, or housing.

Individuals, companies, collectives, and organizations working in dance/movement-based practices may apply. Applicants must have at least a 2‑year history of public performance, be 18+ years old, and reside or be located within Chicago city limits. Full‑time undergraduate students are ineligible. Prior recipients of this residency or those currently in another DCASE or City of Chicago residency are not eligible.
