Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) is the national labor union representing over 3,000 professional directors and choreographers in the United States and worldwide. The union is hiring an Associate Director, Communications who will report to the Executive Director and be responsible for shaping public messaging, managing media relations, drafting executive communications, and supporting advocacy efforts. Key duties include drafting speeches, op‑eds, press releases, and other materials; overseeing earned, shared, and paid media channels; monitoring industry and policy news; and collaborating across departments to ensure consistent messaging. The role requires at least five years of communications experience, preferably in advocacy, labor, policy, or the performing arts, strong writing skills, and the ability to work quickly under pressure. The salary range is $85,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience.
