TUR Artist Residency in Riga
About This Opportunity
TUR Artist Residency for Ukrainian artist in Riga July and November 2025 Congratulations to Olga Stein who will be TUR’s artist in residence for two separate periods, one in July and one in November 2025! TUR is very excited to welcome Olga Stein to Riga as part of our Open Call for Ukrainian artists. She will be TUR’s artist in residence for two separate periods this year - July and November. The residency is a collaoration between ISSP and Kuš and has been generously supported by State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia. Olga is a multidisciplinary artist. She graduated from the Lviv Academy of Arts (2018) and the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv (2020) with a degree in restoration. Her early practice included restoration work in temples and museums, including an internship at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (2019). Since 2019, Olga has curated @thesteinstudio, an artist-run space. Since the full-scale invasion, she has participated in international residencies and exhibitions, with solo shows in Paris (2022), London (2023), Odessa (2024), and Frankfurt (2024). In 2024, she co-founded the platform BY TEXT for critical writing on contemporary Ukrainian art. Olga explores innovative materials such as eco-fabrics from mushrooms, kombucha-based sculpture, and real mother-of-pearl. Her work also engages with taxidermy in art, focusing on the political, ethical, and cultural aspects of trophy practices.
