The Defiance Award has been founded to discover, support and profile exceptional Australian painters. Providing a prominent platform to connect artists to a wider audience, the prize offers both financial support and professional development opportunities to foster long-term careers in the arts, ensuring artists are equipped to thrive and grow within their practice. The Award will offer finalists the opportunity to exhibit in a group show at Defiance Gallery in Sydney. The overall single winning entry will also receive the following: * Solo Exhibition at Defiance Gallery * 2 week residency at Giverny Artist Residency in Queenstown, New Zealand proudly sponsored by the Nock Art Foundation * Return flights to Queenstown from an Australian capital city * $3,000 cash prize
