Tech Fellowship Programme at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands
Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten
Deadline: September 1, 2026

About This Opportunity

The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten invites Dutch‑based artists, makers and designers to apply for the Tech Fellowship Programme (2027 edition). Launched in 2022, the fellowship offers a one‑year (January‑December 2027) trainee and research placement in one of four technical workshops – ceramics, paint, print or wood. Fellows receive a €22,000 stipend, mentorship from senior workshop staff, full access to studio facilities, materials and equipment, and the chance to develop sustainable craft knowledge and new technologies. The programme is designed for early‑, emerging‑ or mid‑career practitioners who are self‑employed, can commit four days per week, and wish to combine technical expertise with their artistic practice. Applications are open until 1 September 2026; interviews will be held the week of 21–25 September 2026. The fellowship is not a traditional residency; it focuses on technical specialization rather than personal artistic production.

Applicants must be based in the Netherlands at the time of application and throughout 2027, be registered as self‑employed, available four days per week, and be early‑, emerging‑ or mid‑career artists, makers or designers.
