Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen — Application Process

Application process for visual arts, literature, and composition. When: Applications for 2026 can be submitted from June 24 to August 31, 2025 (midnight CET). The application portal will be open during this period. Who: Professional visual artists, authors, and composers can apply. Since 2023, applications from collectives have also been accepted. The call is open to people of all nationalities and ages. Accommodation for partners, family members, or assistants can be provided upon agreement and availability. In the case of physical, cognitive, or sensory impairments, we kindly ask you to contact us to explain any existing barriers. What: Stipends amount to €1,500 per month, minus approximately €100 to €200 in rent and operating costs. The stipend for collectives amounts to €1,000 per person, but a maximum of €3,000 minus rent and operating costs. Travel, insurance, or material costs will only be taken over in exceptional cases (in the case of a stipend commitment, we kindly ask for contact in case of need). The duration of the working stay, with a duration of two to six months, can be chosen upon agreement and availability. The stipend is designed as a residence stipend, and for the duration of the stipend, the residency obligation applies in the Künstlerdorf. During the stay, the facilities and infrastructure of the Künstlerdorf can be used. The stipend is not designed as a production stipend, and there is no obligation to present work results. However, there is the possibility, upon agreement and availability, to use exhibition and presentation opportunities. Furthermore, we are pleased about the voluntary co-creation of events, in the form of lectures, readings, workshops, etc. In accordance with the profile and program of the Künstler*dorf, a willingness to participate in events, in the collegiate exchange and the engaged togetherness is expected. The selection of stipend recipients is made by expert juries according to the following criteria and weighting: Quality of previous work, quality and plausibility of the project for Schöppingen, program contributions (interaction/community building).
