Seeking Director

The S AM Swiss Architecture Museum is the leading institution for the communication of contemporary architecture and building culture in Switzerland. The S AM sees itself as a platform anchored throughout Switzerland with international reach. Together with a dedicated team, you will shape the direction of the museum and further develop its content strategy. You will curate exhibitions, position and represent the museum in public, and be responsible for publications. You bring a wide network with you, are familiar with Swiss architectural culture, and have excellent knowledge of the international architecture scene. You are also familiar with the cultural landscape of Basel. Experience in the conception, planning, and realization of exhibitions as well as the communication of architecture through publications and public discourse are expected. You have the ability to lead, develop, and motivate employees by delegating tasks, setting clear objectives, and making decisions. You represent the museum externally and act within the strategic framework defined by the Board of Trustees, which holds overall responsibility for the museum. You are actively committed to the financial security of the museum by developing viable funding concepts and strategically acquiring grants and sponsorships. Knowledge of German and English are a must, with knowledge additional national languages of Switzerland an advantage.
