Río Residencia La Paz opens call for artists of all disciplines

Río Residencia La Paz opens its second call for artists of all disciplines who want to explore and develop situated practices in the environment of the Paraná River, in the Province of Entre Ríos, La Paz City. During this residency, we will work in the ruins of the “Puerto Marquez” slaughterhouse plant, a historic site built in 1889. This space, full of history, presents itself as a place of inspiration and creation for the development of the projects of the participating artists. The call is open to local, regional, national, and international artists of various artistic disciplines, who want to explore situated practices in the Paraná River. This training program includes visual, sound, performative, and interdisciplinary arts. Artists can carry out research, actions, installations, and proposals designed specifically for this singular environment. We believe that cultural exchange between artists and work in the territory are fundamental for the formation of a local identity rich in artistic diversity and capable of preserving the memory that flows along the Paraná River. The objective of this residency is to promote the encounter of artists from different disciplines and regions, so that with their gaze, they can rescue, highlight, and value the historical and natural heritage of the Paraná River. Allowing research on indigenous peoples of the region, migration, the port, navigation of the Paraná River, and the slaughterhouse. With this initiative, cultural tourism is promoted in La Paz, and opportunities for contemporary art training are provided to local, regional, national, and foreign artists.
