Residency — Hermes Artes Visuais

A residency program that promotes the exchange between artists of different nationalities and creative areas. The Hermes Artes Visuais started its residency program in 2011, aiming to offer a space for production and encourage dialogue between artists and different creative areas. Artists, curators, writers and others can apply their proposals throughout the year. There is no deadline for applications and the residency period is agreed upon between the parties. The program includes a critic's accompaniment that relates to the artist's research and participation and presentation of their work in the Accompaniment of Projects groups, guided by Carla Chaim, Marcelo Amorim in partnership with Ana Roman, Ana Candida Avelar and Tálisson Melo. The residency can be concluded with a conversation, visit to the atelier and/or exhibition in the Hermes event room. The Hermes is an independent organization and does not have any type of government or institutional aid, being maintained exclusively by fees and contributions paid by the space's frequenters. The residency program has no profit-making goals and aims to provide a free and welcoming environment, stimulating an exchange of ideas and insertion into the contemporary art circuit of São Paulo. Thus, the approved artists are responsible for all and any expenses related to accommodation at the Hermes, food, transportation, travel, health insurance and artistic materials. The Hermes is available to send an invitation letter or an official acceptance letter of the proposal to the candidates who need it, in case of sponsorship, partnerships and others. Throughout the year, at the invitation of the Hermes team, two artists are received in the residence without costs related to accommodation, with the counterparty of donating a work produced during their stay.
