OPEN CALL'25 - IPMA International Photography and Media Art Festival

Ideas create worlds, but can also destroy them. The festival invites you to ponder the power of ideas – how they affect our daily lives, culture, politics, food, and beliefs. Each project is a unique reflection of an idea: does it lead to freedom or oppression? Ideas are invisible forces shaping our world. They emerge in our minds, but their impact can be universal – building empires, tearing down walls, creating new art movements or changing social norms. They can spark revolutions, open new horizons of thought, but equally – become tools of manipulation, coercion, or fear. The festival's theme „Ideas. Creating and Destroying“ invites artists to explore the nature of ideas and their multifaceted power. How do ideas emerge in our minds? When do they become a source of creativity, and when – a ideological tool? Where is the line between inspiration and fanaticism? Ideas affect not only global phenomena – they act on each of us individually. They penetrate our daily decisions, family traditions, creative choices. Beliefs, gender, identity, success – all are shaped by ideas, which are not always our own. Sometimes they empower us to create, and sometimes – quietly restrict us. This theme is a call to reflect on what lies beneath our convictions. What do we pass on from generation to generation? Which ideas do we choose to carry, and which – to let go?
