Open Call: Corniche 7
About This Opportunity
Sharjah Art Foundation invites artists from the GCC to submit their applications to the seventh edition of the annual comic book. The Foundation announces an open call to expand the base of participants and diversify creative contributions in the fourth edition of the comic book "Corniche" which brings together the works of many painters and comic artists from the GCC. "Corniche" does not adhere to a fixed editorial format, but rather seeks to explore and experiment, and opens the way for the publication of multiple approaches and perspectives, including personal experiences, science fiction, fantasy, mythology, and art history. The Foundation invites comic artists to submit their contributions to a six-page story with the aim of publishing it in the seventh edition of the "Corniche" book, then the selected artists are invited to participate in a three-day meeting to exchange ideas and views, and then the Foundation collects the selected comics. "Corniche" launched a comic-making workshop that lasted for three days in 2019, to become a platform that brings together local painters who engage in experimentation and publication through it. The innovative workshop achieved great success and the artists unexpectedly decided to collect their final stories in a single book named after the Sharjah Corniche view overlooking the workshop site. Book "Corniche 7" will be launched during the "Point of Contact" exhibition between 12-14 December 2025
