MAK Schindler Scholarship Program
About This Opportunity
The MAK Artists- and Architects-in-Residence Program offers six-month residencies to international artists and architects, selected by an international jury through an annual competition. Residents live and work in the Mackey Apartments, and present projects in exhibitions at the end of their term in March and September. The residence program welcomes a small group of international artists and architects to live and work in Los Angeles. Offering long-term support to projects working at the intersection of architecture and the visual arts, the residency aims to create new interdisciplinary opportunities and confrontations. The residency culminates in a final group project presentation at the Mackey Apartments Garage Top. Initiated in October 1995, an international jury convenes in Vienna each spring to select up to eight projects as well as two alternates per group. To date, the MAK Center has hosted more than 50 groups of international residents. This unique program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport, in cooperation with the MAK — Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna.
