The right-wing shift in our society is unmistakable and alarming. Thousands of people have demonstrated across the country in the spring of 2024 for a democratic and tolerant coexistence. The upcoming federal election in February 2025 will not lead to the end of the right-wing shift in society. Artists are called upon to counter the societal development to the right and to give this important issue a creative and artistic voice. With the art project „WIR GEGEN RECHTSRUCK" #buntstadt Braunschweig , the Forum against the Right in Braunschweig , the BBK Braunschweig and the Association KOPRA e.V. invite artists nationwide and beyond to participate actively. The competition offers not only the chance to win prizes of up to 2,000 euros, but also the opportunity to make the artworks accessible to a broad public. The submitted works will be published on the platform #buntstadt and are available for free use. This is to contribute together to the strengthening of democracy and the fight against exclusion. A position against xenophobia and democracy hostility should be taken and at the same time for justice, equality and solidarity should be campaigned. From January 1 to March 31, 2025, artists nationwide and beyond can participate and thus show that art can bring about change. As cooperation partners, we were able to win the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Niedersachsen, respekt.tv, kopra e. V., the „Vereint für Demokratie"-Fonds and the trade union ver.di.
