About the Program

We understand the importance of gaining valuable work experience in the studio arts. This program is an ideal opportunity for a developing ceramic artist who is looking for a place to obtain significant teaching experience and pursue the development of their own artwork. Prospective residents will be selected based on artistic merit, prior work experience, education, work ethic and references. We do not discriminate based on age, ethnicity or gender and we encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply. As of right now, we will host up to two resident artists at a time, ranging from six months to two years, with preference given to those who can stay at least one year. We have developed long-term friendships with many of our past interns/visiting artists and we love to stay in touch and see where life takes you after being in our studio space. We view the residency as a life-long friendship and professional relationship. One of the greatest benefits to working as resident artist at Warehome Studios is to be immersed in a true working studio outside of the academic world. We utilize a variety of materials and have many years of experience as creative business entrepreneurs. We also work in the building trades and offer a sound understanding of how to be responsible business owners collaborating and engaging with designers, architects, dealers, galleries, contractors and other clients. A residency at Warehome Studios is a work/exchange program and is currently only available in ceramics, but resident artists will gain some exposure in the glass and stone studio (often paid for stone work) when projects are available. Please see our About Page for some of our available equipment and the work we produce.

Restrictions

Applicants must have a minimum of a BA, BFA or MFA in ceramics or a related field, but we also accept residents who studied in other fields, but still have significant ceramics teaching and working experience and an extensive portfolio of recent artwork.

What's Offered

Shared studio space of approximately 500 square feet (shared with 1-2 other artists) plus access to shared classroom space outside of class and lessons times (see About Page)
