Art in Architecture New Construction of a Research and Administration Building for the Max Rubner Institute (MRI) , Kiel / Germany

The Federal Property Administration (BImA) is building a new building for the Max Rubner Institute (MRI) in Kiel in the coming years in direct proximity to the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel as part of a public-private partnership (ÖPP). For the new construction of the research and administration building at the Bremerskamp site, a competition for two working areas will be held. Artists worldwide can apply for participation in the competition from now on. The application includes statements on the vita (max. one DIN4 page), statements on the artistic position (max. one DIN4 page) and three reference projects (realized art in architecture works, submitted art in architecture designs or realized art works from the oeuvre). Applications with fewer or more than three references will be excluded from the application procedure. Applications can only be submitted for one working area. From the received applications, up to eight artists, artists or artist groups or working groups will be selected for participation in the competition per working area. For the realization of the art, a budget of up to 280,000 euros (gross) will be available per working area, including all costs for fees, material and production costs including ancillary costs. The participation in the competition will be remunerated with 4,000 euros (gross) for the design preparation, provided that a work corresponding to the conditions of the announcement is submitted. In addition, a prize money of 6,000 euros (gross) per location will be awarded.
