9-Month Artist Residency - Taft Gardens & Nature Preserve
About This Opportunity
The Art in Nature jury will grant one 9-month Artist Residency to one professional visual artist or team, who will use the time to focus and develop a single project or a body of work in the Taft Gardens Historic Art Studio. They will be asked to work on-site, maintain a presence in the studio, and interact with visitors. This opportunity allows the artist to engage and educate the public about their work-in-progress and ongoing practice. This Residency will culminate with the Art in Nature Fundraiser and Exhibition Openings to celebrate the artist's accomplishment of completing the Residency. This event is ticketed and attracts arts advocates, collectors, curators, and supporters of Taft Gardens.
Restrictions
Applicants must have visited Taft Gardens in person within the last 3 years. Practice must have a visual component. Live within Ventura County or Santa Barbara County. Be over the age of 21 by the start of the residency you are applying to. Not be enrolled in an academic program during the residency season.
