À Propos de Cette Opportunité

The Sustainable Darkroom Futures Residency is a six‑month hybrid program that brings together UK‑based artists to research and develop innovative, sustainable systems in photography. Supported by Arts Council England, the National Lottery, and The Grocers’ Charity, the residency offers a £3,400 grant, bi‑weekly online seminars with experts, and online mentorship tailored to each project. Participants will also gain access to facilities and technical support at the University of Sunderland, where they can prototype and test their ideas. The residency culminates in an exhibition and symposium in Sunderland (October 2027), with travel stipend and accommodation provided for the final event. Five places are available: two are reserved for residents of Northern England, and two for artists with disabilities, while the remaining place is open to all UK residents. Applications are accepted via a Google Form (deadline 23 October 2026, midnight UK time). The call encourages speculative and conceptual proposals that explore systemic change in photographic practice, from darkrooms and commercial labs to legal frameworks and AI. Applicants must be UK residents and, if applying for a Northern England place, provide evidence of residency. The residency is open to individual artists; group submissions are not accepted.
