Silhouette Projects - Résidence d'artistes (SP-AIR) - Kampala

Silhouette Projects is Afriart Gallery Kampala’s professional growth division and artist residency program. The residency offers emerging African artists a 3‑month stay in a 150 sqm warehouse studio and residence located in Kampala’s old industrial area. Participants receive studio space, a bar, coffee shop, co‑working space, and gallery, as well as support for networking, production needs such as space, working materials, lodging, and travel. The program includes mentorship, a curriculum of reading, writing, and research assignments, and opportunities to exhibit work at the gallery, art fairs, biennales, and museum shows. The residency is open to two to three emerging young artists from the African continent working in disciplines such as painting, drawing, installation, sculpture, performance, and related media. Applicants must be self‑driven, inquisitive, and motivated to develop new ideas and focus on their artistic direction.
