The Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants program, administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), offers one‑time grants of up to $5,000 to artists in financial need who have experienced an unexpected medical, dental, or mental health emergency. Eligible applicants must be generative artists working in choreography, digital/electronic arts, video/film, or visual arts; be 21 years or older; reside in the United States, the District of Columbia, a Tribal Nation, or a U.S. Territory; have an adjusted gross income of $80,000 or less (or $160,000 for joint filers) averaged over the last two federal tax returns; and demonstrate recent and sustained artistic activity. The grant covers expenses incurred within the U.S. for the emergency and is not a replacement for lost wages or living expenses. Applications open on August 18, 2026 and close on September 15, 2026, with notifications sent on November 9, 2026. The program is recurring, with new cycles opening every two months. Applicants submit their applications via Submittable, and the NYFA provides guidelines and an application portal. The grant is free to apply for and offers up to $5,000 per applicant.
