[Hyogo] Programme de résidence d'artistes L‑AIR Himeji – Appel à candidatures 2027

The L‑AIR General Incorporated Association announces its 2027 Artist‑in‑Residence Program in Takagi, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture – a town renowned for its leather industry. Up to two artists are selected per season (four seasons per year), each residency lasting two to three months. Artists from any discipline may apply; no age, nationality or prior leather experience is required, but participants must be able to work with leather and engage with local craftsmen and the community. The program provides free accommodation, an open studio, leather and other production materials, a monthly production‑support grant (up to JPY 250,000 for Japanese artists, up to JPY 150,000 for international artists), round‑trip travel reimbursement, technical staff support, Wi‑Fi, and a final presentation space. Applicants must communicate in Japanese or English and agree to share their process publicly. Application deadlines are seasonal: Season 2 – 30 Nov 2026, Season 3 – 1 Mar 2027, Season 4 – 31 May 2027 (applications are accepted on a rolling basis). Applications are submitted via email with a project sheet and portfolio. The residency aims to explore new forms of expression through leather and to envision future lifestyles and environmental possibilities.
