The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) offers the Education Assistance Grant as part of its Grants for Artists program. The grant awards up to $500 to individual Oklahoma residents who are 21 years or older, not currently enrolled in a BFA or MFA program, and have held at least twelve months of residency in Oklahoma. Applicants must not have received an OVAC grant in the previous year and may submit only one application per cycle. The funding is intended for educational activities—including conferences, residencies, studio workshops, and study trips—and may cover travel fees. Applications are accepted three times a year, with the next deadline on October 15, 2026. Submissions are made via Submittable and must include a completed application form, CV or resume, a 250‑word statement, 5‑10 artwork samples (or video up to three minutes), an image list, a project timeline, and a balanced budget. The review panel evaluates the quality of the educational opportunity, potential impact on the artist’s practice, feasibility, and relevance to the portfolio. Successful applicants receive the grant payment within two weeks of notification, and the funded project must be completed within one year of award. The grant is free to apply and does not provide housing, though travel costs may be included in the award.
