Curtas Vila do Conde – Festival international du film

Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival, one of Portugal’s most prestigious short‑film festivals, is calling for entries for its 35th edition, scheduled from 9–18 July 2027 in Vila do Conde. The festival accepts fiction, animation, documentary and experimental short films no longer than 60 minutes, produced in 2026 or 2027, and offers several competitive sections: International, Portuguese, Experimental, Take One!, My Generation, Curtinhas and a special audience award. The main submission deadline is 30 April 2027 (15 April for the Curtinhas competition). Submission fees vary with the date: 20 EUR until 31 Oct 2026, 25 EUR from 1 Nov 2026 to 31 Jan 2027, and 30 EUR from 1 Feb to 30 Apr 2027; Take One! entries are free. Films must be submitted via the festival’s designated platforms (FilmFreeway, ShortFilmDepot, FestHome). The festival is an Academy, BAFTA and Goya qualifying event, and winners may be nominated for European Short Film Awards and other international prizes. No stipend or housing is provided; the festival does not cover travel costs. The call is open to all filmmakers meeting the eligibility criteria and is a recurring annual competition.
