The April Writing Residency Programme, based in the picturesque lake city of Trakai, Lithuania, calls for writers, editors, critics and artists whose practice is centred on writing. The inaugural season offers residencies lasting from two weeks to two months, scheduled between November 2026 and June 2027. Applicants are encouraged to outline a project they intend to develop during their stay, which may include books, essays, translations, poems, performance scripts or other written works. The programme provides fully equipped studios with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, desks, and shared spaces, as well as WiFi, bicycles, and access to a library. Participants receive professional support, including curatorial and editorial guidance, translation and proofreading assistance, and opportunities to engage with the local cultural scene in Trakai and Vilnius. The residency fee covers accommodation, bed linen, towels, weekly cleaning, WiFi, bicycles, and shared spaces. Self‑supported residencies cost €600 per month, while four supported residencies are available. The application deadline is 18 October 2026, 23:59 EEST, with a €15 application administration fee payable via Swedbank. Selected artists will be notified by 4 November 2026.
