Appel à candidatures FOTODOKS 2027

The FOTODOKS festival for contemporary documentary photography, held annually in Munich, Germany, announces its Open Call 2027. The call seeks existing lens‑based documentary projects that explore the theme of care – its emotional, physical, psychological and social dimensions – and how it intersects with politics, relationships and environments. Submissions are welcome from individual photographers, duos or collectives, and may be presented in either English or German. The festival encourages applicants of all ethnic backgrounds, religions, ages, genders, disabilities and sexual orientations to apply. Selected artists will receive an artist fee (€500 for solo photographers, €800 for duos, up to €1,200 for collectives), a travel budget (up to €150 within Germany, €300 within the EU, €500 outside the EU), accommodation during the four‑day opening week, production support for their project, inclusion in the group exhibition, a catalogue entry, promotional materials and a feature on the FOTODOKS website. Applications are submitted through the Picter platform. The deadline for submissions is 20 November 2026, after which the jury will select the awardees for the October 2027 edition of the festival.

Travel budget to and from Munich, Germany: up to 150,–€ for travel inside of Germany up to 300,–€ for travel inside of the EU/Europe up to 500,–€ for travel outside of EU/Europe as well as accommodation to be part of the festival’s 4-day opening week.
