Gladstone House, Toronto’s oldest operating hotel, is opening its 2027 Artist Residency Program to professional visual artists and craftspeople. The residency runs in four 3‑month blocks (January 4–March 31; April 1–June 30; July 2–September 30; October 1–December 31) and offers free use of a 480‑sq‑ft studio on the hotel’s Studio Level. Artists are expected to work at least two full days or four half‑days per week, keep the studio door open, and engage with hotel guests. In return, they contribute to the hotel’s arts programming by exhibiting work in public spaces or offering a workshop or other activation. The program is open to professional artists aged 19 or older, local to Toronto, who do not have a studio outside their home, and who have not previously participated in a Gladstone House residency. The application deadline is November 1, 2026, 11:00 pm ET. Applicants must submit a single PDF containing a bio, statement, work plan, artist contribution, preferred residency block, five images or a website link, and contact details. No fee is charged, and no stipend or accommodation is provided. The residency is a recurring call, with a new edition each year.
