Steiger Gallery is calling for artistic concepts to be installed as permanent works within the Wassergarten at Erlebnisort Reden, a former coal mine site in Schiffweiler, Saarland, Germany. The call is open to emerging and established artists from all disciplines, with regional, national, and international submissions expressly encouraged. Applicants should propose works that engage with the site's mining heritage, industrial history, transformation, and natural environment, and that can be realized independently. The total project budget, including artist fee, production, and installation, must be between €2,000 and €60,000. Applications are submitted exclusively via the online portal and must include a short project description, a visual presentation, a portfolio, a brief biography, and a link to an online portfolio. After the deadline (30 August 2026), concepts will be evaluated and presented digitally and on-site from 25 September to 25 October 2026, where visitors can vote. A jury will then select concepts for further development, offering a development fee of up to €1,000. The selected works may be realized in 2027, but this is not guaranteed. The Wassergarten is a public outdoor space, freely accessible 24 hours a day, and the installation must be suitable for such an environment.
