Volunteer Puppeteers Needed for St. Ann's Warehouse's Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
St. Ann’s Warehouse, in partnership with The Walk Productions, is launching Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi, a two‑day public art event on September 19‑20, 2026, that will feature a herd of life‑sized buffalo puppets moving through Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan. The project seeks 150 volunteer puppeteers to operate the puppets. Selected volunteers will attend an intensive week‑long training program (September 12‑18) led by internationally acclaimed puppetry teachers, movement artists, and First Nations elders. No prior puppetry experience is required; participants must be 18 years or older, physically fit, and able to commit to the full training and performance schedule. Volunteers will receive a certificate of participation, light refreshments during training, and the unique experience of performing in a large‑scale public spectacle. The role is unpaid and limited to 150 participants, so early application is encouraged. Applications are submitted via a Google signup form, and the deadline is August 7, 2026.
