ver: Residencia de la isla de Vigur
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
The Vigur Island Residency revives the historic tradition of Ver by offering professional artists and practitioners a seasonal base on Vigur, a remote island in Iceland’s Westfjords. Residencies last between two and six weeks, typically taking place from mid‑August to mid‑September, with flexibility for alternative periods based on project needs. One residency is offered per year. Applicants must submit a project proposal, a summary of previous work, and any requested supporting materials via an online Google Form. The deadline for the 2026 cycle is 30 September 2026. The residency is open to artists of any discipline, nationality, and career stage, though priority is given to projects that meaningfully reflect Vigur’s environment, culture, or heritage. While photographers, writers, and journalists are welcome, their proposals must demonstrate a distinctive artistic approach. Residents receive basic accommodation (double bedroom with private kitchen and bathroom), full board, transport to and from the island, a small adjacent workspace, and full access to the island’s resources. No residency fee is charged; residents are asked to donate a work to the Vigur Island Foundation. An official invitation letter is provided to aid fundraising, though no stipend is offered.
