Texas A&M University
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
Texas A&M University invites professional artists or artist‑led teams to submit proposals for a monumental, site‑specific public artwork that will become the iconic front‑door of the new Aplin Center, a 211,724‑sq‑ft hospitality and experiential learning facility opening in spring 2028. The commission seeks works that embody themes of welcome, hospitality, home, belonging and shared experience, while meeting durability, safety and accessibility standards for Central Texas. All media are considered, including sculpture, environmental work, architectural interventions, light‑based installations and interdisciplinary approaches. Applicants must demonstrate artistic excellence, experience with large‑scale public art projects, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with architects, engineers and university stakeholders. Phase One is an open call for a PDF portfolio (10–15 works, documentation of 3–5 public art projects, references, and team information). Selected finalists will receive a design stipend (amount disclosed upon invitation) and will be supported through design development, technical documentation, budgeting, fabrication oversight and installation coordination. The deadline for Phase One submissions is 31 October 2026, 11:59 p.m. (CT).
