Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

The Sharpe‑Walentas Studio Program, administered by the Walentas Family Foundation, provides 17 professional visual artists with rent‑free, non‑living studio spaces in DUMBO, Brooklyn for a one‑year period (September 2027 – August 2028). Studios feature high ceilings, freight and passenger elevator access, 24/7 entry, and shared amenities such as a kitchen, sinks, restrooms, and Wi‑Fi. Applicants must be 21 or older, U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or U.S.-based artists, and cannot be enrolled in a degree program, hold another studio, or be participating in another residency. The application opens on December 15, 2026, and the deadline is January 14, 2027 at 11:59 PM EST. Submissions require five images (or up to five videos/stills for video work) and a statement of need; no supplemental materials or mailed submissions are accepted. The program does not provide a stipend, housing, or material grants. Residents are expected to spend at least 20 hours per week in the studio, help organize the spring open‑studio weekend, maintain communal spaces, and submit progress reports at six and twelve months.
