Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
Toi Aro (Toi Pōneke Arts Centre) invites applications for its 2026 d/Deaf and/or Disabled Artist Development Residency. The eight‑week, part‑time residency runs from 26 October to 20 December 2026 and provides one d/Deaf and/or disabled artist based in the Wellington region with studio space (5 m × 2.7 m mezzanine studio), a $3,750 artist fee (before tax), a paid interpreter/mentor or support person of the artist’s choice, and access to a wheelchair‑accessible venue. The residency culminates in a studio showing for invited guests and includes advice on future exhibition opportunities. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents living in the Wellington region, with a local address at the time of application, and must intend to remain in New Zealand for at least one year after the residency. The call is open to artists working in 2D and 3D media (mixed media, film, video, etc.) but not to performing arts, theatre rehearsals, live music or very large works. Applications open on 17 August 2026 and close at 5 pm on 15 September 2026.
