Residencia MASSIA
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
MASSIA is a self‑organised residency space located in the village of Massiaru, Häädemeeste Parish, Pärnu County, Estonia. The site is housed in a heritage school building near the coast and offers a low‑cost, collaborative environment for artists, practitioners, scientists, activists, and other creative professionals. There is no formal selection process; the residency is open to anyone who can agree to the basic principles of self‑organisation and daily care work. Residents are expected to contribute at least one hour per day to the maintenance and self‑organisation of the space, which includes cleaning, improving infrastructure, and supporting communal activities.
The residency provides essential housing amenities such as bed linen and towels, and a shared studio space is available for work. A car is offered for transport at a nominal fee of €0.35 per kilometre. Residents may also join a collective food cupboard for a sliding‑scale contribution of €10–20 per day. The residency is designed to be flexible, allowing stays of varying lengths, and is open year‑round with no fixed application deadline.
MASSIA encourages interdisciplinary exchange and values intersectional, anti‑racist, queer‑feminist principles. It is part of the Estonian Creative Residencies Network and operates on a collective, low‑staff model, relying on the active participation of its residents.
