Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

The Toronto Arts Council (TAC) offers the Visual Artists Program: Creation, a discipline‑specific grant that supports professional visual artists residing in the City of Toronto. Each year, eligible artists may receive a $10,000 grant to cover direct costs of creating new artwork or completing works in progress, including materials and production expenses. The program explicitly excludes film and video makers, who must apply to the Media Artists Program, and does not fund travel, exhibition costs, or capital purchases such as tools and equipment.

Eligibility is limited to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who have lived in Toronto for at least one year prior to the application deadline. Applicants must demonstrate a professional independent practice with at least one year of experience after completing full‑time studies, and must not be graduate students applying for work related to their academic program. Only one Visual Artists grant may be awarded per calendar year, and collaborative proposals are allowed provided a principal applicant is identified.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through TAC’s online Grants system (TAC Grants Online). Applicants can submit at any time, and results are typically communicated within three to four months. In addition to the primary $10,000 grant, TAC offers an optional Accessibility Grant of up to $5,000 for artists with disability‑related needs and up to $500 in application support for eligible applicants. The program aims to foster the creation of new visual art across a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, printmaking, performance, installation, and fine crafts.
