The Rushworth Composition Prize, run in partnership with the Rushworth Foundation, is aimed at early‑stage composers. The winner receives a £1,000 cash prize and a commission to create a new piece for the Liverpool Philharmonic’s contemporary music ensemble, 10:10. During the commission period the awardee will participate in workshops, masterclasses and mentoring sessions with established composers, musicians, conductors and other industry professionals associated with the Philharmonic. The prize also includes a premiere of the new work by the ensemble and the opportunity to develop a long‑term creative relationship with Liverpool Philharmonic. Applications are open until midday on 28 September 2026. Eligibility requires applicants to be at an early stage in their composing career, be at least 18 years old on the deadline, and either live, work or be born in the North West of England (Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria) or be a registered student at a North West higher‑education institution. Applicants must also have the right to work in the UK. The application process is free, and video submissions are accepted.
