The City of Peoria is brightening up its streets with a call to artists for the upcoming "Light at Play" event slated for spring 2026. Creative minds from Arizona and its neighbors—California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah—are invited to submit their qualifications for this nocturnal celebration of interactive and illuminated public art. From April 9 through April 11, 2026, this three-night festival aims to transform Downtown Peoria with vivid large-scale projections, immersive media, and engaging installations, according to an announcement made by the City of Peoria. Those looking to participate may propose various types of work including digital animation, motion graphics, projection mapping, and augmented reality experiences, among others. The event encourages an exploration of the narrative potential of light, motion, and technology after dark. Submissions are open, with the deadline set for November 16, as reported by the City of Peoria. Selected participants will proceed to a second phase where they will develop site-specific concepts tailored for the Peoria event. Funding for projects is reflective of their complexity and scope, ranging from $3,000 to $20,000. "In Phase I of the Call for Artists, applicants only need to submit qualifications," the City of Peoria outlined in its call. Qualified applicants will be notified by December 15 and will be provided with support for infrastructure and equipment to bring their installations to life.
